RTX 5060 vs RTX 4060 Benchmarks: Is It Time to Upgrade?

RTX 5060 vs RTX 4060 Benchmarks: Is It Time to Upgrade?

NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX 5060 enters the mid-range market with GDDR7 memory, more cores, and DLSS 4 support. But how much faster is it than the outgoing RTX 4060? In this article, we compare the two cards across gaming performance, ray tracing, synthetic benchmarks, and power efficiency to see whether the upgrade is worth it.

🎮 Gaming Performance (Raster)

At 1080p and 1440p, the RTX 5060 outperforms the RTX 4060 in almost every title. Here's what the numbers say:

📈 Benchmark Results — Average FPS at 1440p Ultra:

Game Title RTX 4060 RTX 5060 Gain
Monster Hunter World 101 FPS 116 FPS +14.9%
Cyberpunk 2077 (no RT) 78 FPS 92 FPS +17.9%
Assassin’s Creed Mirage 89 FPS 105 FPS +18.0%
Call of Duty: MW3 141 FPS 167 FPS +18.4%

These results show a ~15–20% average uplift in raster games, which aligns with architectural gains and better memory compression.

🌐 Ray Tracing & DLSS 4

One of the biggest leaps comes with DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation (MFG), exclusive to the RTX 50-series.

Cyberpunk 2077 (RT Ultra + DLSS/MFG)

  • RTX 4060: 52 FPS

  • RTX 5060: 66 FPS (+26.9%)

  • With MFG: RTX 5060 boosts to 91 FPS

Games like Black Myth: Wukong and Alan Wake II benefit massively from MFG, showing smoother frame pacing and more consistent 1% lows on the RTX 5060.

🧪 Synthetic Benchmarks

Synthetic testing further highlights the 5060's architectural improvements:

3DMark Fire Strike Extreme

  • RTX 4060: 12,460

  • RTX 5060: 16,978 → +36.2%

Port Royal (Ray Tracing)

  • RTX 4060: 5,131

  • RTX 5060: 7,203 → +40.3%

These synthetic gains are especially important for creators and users working with AI workloads or 3D rendering.

⚡ Power Efficiency & Thermals

While both GPUs are relatively efficient, the RTX 5060 draws ~10% more power (≈145–150W) than the RTX 4060 (≈130W). However, performance-per-watt is still improved thanks to the newer Blackwell architecture.

GPU Power Draw Performance Perf/Watt
RTX 4060 ~130W Baseline 100%
RTX 5060 ~145W +18% avg ~110–115%

💵 Price & Value

  • RTX 4060 MSRP: $299

  • RTX 5060 MSRP: $329

Given the 15–25% performance bump and DLSS 4 exclusivity, the RTX 5060 offers better value per frame for modern titles.

✅ Conclusion: Should You Upgrade?
