After years of trailers, leaks, rumors, and frame-by-frame speculation, we finally have a substantial official look at Grand Theft Auto VI.
On August 27, 2026, Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a roughly 26-minute presentation captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. It gives us our clearest look yet at Jason and Lucia, Vice City, combat, police chases, character switching, side activities, and the enormous amount of detail Rockstar is packing into the state of Leonida.
For PC gamers, though, there is one important reality behind all the excitement:
Rockstar still has not announced a GTA 6 PC release date or official GTA 6 PC system requirements.
So instead of guessing, let's separate what Rockstar actually showed from what the internet is speculating about.

What Rockstar Actually Showed in the New GTA 6 Gameplay
The most striking part of the reveal isn't one individual feature. It's how dense the world appears.
Vice City doesn't look like a backdrop built between missions. Rockstar is presenting Leonida as a living environment filled with traffic, pedestrians, interiors, businesses, vehicles, wildlife, nightlife, beaches, waterways, highways, and dozens of smaller activities.
There is also a noticeable fluidity between cinematic sequences and actual gameplay. At several points, it becomes difficult to tell exactly where a cutscene ends and player control begins.
That doesn't tell us everything about GTA 6 yet, but it gives us a much better idea of what Rockstar is trying to accomplish with its next open world.
Jason and Lucia Are More Than Two Separate Protagonists
We've known for a while that GTA 6 centers around Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. The Extended Look gives us a much clearer idea of how the two characters will actually work together.
During combat, we see one character controlled by the player while the other moves and takes cover alongside them. The footage also shows transitions between Jason and Lucia without a traditional loading screen.
One particularly interesting moment switches from Lucia parachuting through the city to Jason spending time elsewhere, with the camera moving across Leonida during the transition.
The reveal also suggests that some missions or jobs may involve only one of the two characters, while others have Jason and Lucia working together.
Rockstar hasn't explained every rule behind the character-switching system yet, so it is worth being careful about assuming how much freedom players will have during every mission. But the relationship between the two protagonists clearly appears to be central to both the story and gameplay.
Combat and Police Chases Look More Tactical
The traditional GTA formula is still recognizable: driving, shooting, stealing cars, escaping police, and getting into situations that become progressively worse.
But the new footage shows several changes that could make those systems more detailed.
Gunplay appears more deliberate, including a clearer aiming reticle and the ability to target specific parts of an enemy. The Extended Look also shows a more dynamic cover system during shootouts.
The police system may be even more interesting.
During wanted situations, police can appear to receive information about the suspects, including details related to appearance, clothing, vehicles, and whether Jason and Lucia are together.
The footage also shows masks, hats, glasses, and other disguise-related items being changed during gameplay.
If those systems operate dynamically throughout the open world rather than only during scripted missions, getting away from the police may involve more than simply driving fast until the wanted level disappears.
GTA 6 Looks Packed With Things to Do
One of the best parts of the reveal is how much happens away from the main story.
The Extended Look shows a wide variety of activities, including:
- Basketball
- Scuba diving
- Fishing
- Kayaking
- Jet skiing
- Airboats
- Dirt bikes
- Weight training
- Street racing
- BASE jumping and skydiving
- Clubs and nightlife
- Exploration throughout Vice City and Leonida
None of these features individually defines GTA 6. The interesting part is the density.
Rockstar's best open worlds work because you can start the game intending to complete one mission and somehow spend the next two hours doing something completely unrelated. From what Rockstar showed on August 27, GTA 6 seems designed around exactly that kind of distraction.
Vice City Looks Extremely Dense
Graphically, this is obviously the part of the reveal that generated some of the biggest reactions.
The lighting, reflections, character animation, vegetation, water, interiors, traffic, crowds, and overall density of Vice City look impressive.
But the amount happening on screen may be just as important as the visual quality itself.
A modern open-world game has to simulate far more than graphics. Traffic, NPC behavior, physics, animation, environmental systems, streaming world data, and AI all have to operate simultaneously.
That is important to remember when people eventually start talking about GTA 6 PC hardware.
What Does the GTA 6 Gameplay Reveal Tell Us About PC Requirements?
Right now, almost nothing concrete.
The footage Rockstar released was captured on PlayStation 5. That does not tell us exactly what CPU or GPU GTA 6 will require on PC.
Rockstar has not published official information for:
- Minimum PC requirements
- Recommended PC requirements
- GPU requirements
- CPU requirements
- RAM requirements
- VRAM requirements
- 1440p requirements
- 4K requirements
- Ray tracing settings
- DLSS support
- FSR support
- PC frame-rate targets
You will already find websites and social media posts publishing supposed GTA 6 PC requirements.
Those numbers are estimates unless they come directly from Rockstar.
Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?
As of August 28, 2026, Rockstar officially lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
A PC version is not currently listed as a launch platform.
That doesn't mean GTA 6 will never come to PC. Rockstar has historically released major Grand Theft Auto titles on PC after their original console releases.
But Rockstar's history is not an official GTA 6 PC announcement.
Until Rockstar confirms a PC version and gives it a release date, any specific PC launch window remains speculation.
We are keeping a separate guide updated specifically for this question. Read our GTA 6 PC release date guide for the latest confirmed information.
What Are the GTA 6 PC System Requirements?
The correct answer right now is simple:
There are no official GTA 6 PC system requirements.
And after seeing the new footage, we're not going to pretend that looking at a PlayStation 5 presentation allows us to accurately tell you that you need an RTX 5070, RTX 5080, RTX 5090, or any other specific graphics card.
That isn't how PC performance works.
The eventual requirements will depend on Rockstar's PC version, optimization, graphics settings, resolution, CPU scaling, ray tracing implementation, memory usage, and whatever upscaling technologies the PC release supports.
Until those details exist, any specific “best GPU for GTA 6” recommendation is a prediction — not a confirmed specification.
Should You Upgrade Your PC for GTA 6 Right Now?
If GTA 6 is the only reason you're upgrading, our recommendation is to wait.
There simply isn't enough official information about a PC version yet to design a computer specifically around GTA 6.
If you're buying a gaming PC now because you also want to play today's demanding games at 1440p or 4K, that's different.
Build around the performance you need today while leaving reasonable upgrade headroom for tomorrow.
For gamers targeting the balance between high frame rates and image quality, our 1440p gaming PCs are built around 2K gaming without the significantly higher GPU demands of 4K.
If your goal is high-resolution gaming and maximum visual detail in today's demanding titles, explore our 4K gaming PCs.
For higher-end current workloads, you can also browse RTX 5080 gaming PCs.
And if you would rather choose the components, cooling, storage, and visual design around your own setup, take a look at our custom gaming PCs.
The important distinction is that these are recommendations for current PC gaming. We are not calling any computer “GTA 6 ready” until Rockstar provides actual PC specifications.
Why GTA 6 Could Be Demanding on More Than Just the GPU
When gamers think about demanding games, the graphics card usually gets most of the attention.
Open-world games are more complicated than that.
The CPU has to help manage world simulation, NPC behavior, traffic, physics, animation, and other systems. The GPU handles resolution, lighting, effects, textures, and image quality. Memory and storage help keep a huge amount of world data available and moving quickly.
Looking at the density Rockstar is showing in Leonida, GTA 6 is a good example of why a balanced gaming PC matters.
Putting the entire budget into the graphics card while compromising heavily on the CPU, memory, cooling, or storage isn't always the best approach.
If you're choosing a new system now, our Best Gaming PC 2026 guide explains how different hardware tiers make sense for 1080p, 1440p, and 4K gaming.
GTA 6 Is Finally Starting to Feel Real
That may be the biggest takeaway from the August 27 reveal.
For years, GTA 6 has existed through announcements, trailers, leaks, rumors, and seemingly endless speculation.
Now we have more than twenty minutes of official in-game footage.
We can see Jason and Lucia working together. We can see shootouts and police pursuits. We can see Vice City filled with traffic and pedestrians. We can see basketball courts, boats, beaches, highways, clubs, apartments, businesses, and a huge amount of environmental detail.
There will undoubtedly be months of frame-by-frame analysis between now and launch.
But for PC gamers, patience is still the smart move.
November 19, 2026 is the confirmed console release date. A GTA 6 PC release date and official GTA 6 PC system requirements have not been announced.
When Rockstar changes that, we'll update our coverage.
And when real PC specifications finally exist instead of guesses, that's when it will make sense to seriously discuss the ideal GTA 6 gaming PC.
